Digital signature
Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 of 23 July 2014 on the electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market and amending Directive 1999/93 / EC defines repealing various types of electronic signature Article 3:
- “Electronic signature”, data in electronic form attached to other electronic data or logically associated with them using the signer to sign;
- “Advanced electronic signature”, electronic signature which meets the requirements referred to in Article 26;
- “Qualified electronic signature”, an advanced electronic signature is created by a qualified device and electronic signature based on a qualified electronic signature certificate.
Similarly, the requirements of advanced electronic signature defined in Article 26:
- linked to the signatory uniquely;
- permit identification of the signatory;
- it is created using data creating electronic signatures that the signatory can be used with a high level of confidence under its exclusive control, and
- linked to the signatory uniquely.
Therefore, the electronic signature will allow the sender and receiver of information or content that identify with the certainty that they are the only ones who interact. This ensures that the content is not altered, it has not been intercepted during communication and that they can not repudiate information previously received and accepted.
